fonix said 7/4 at 12:14am I am a big fan of Mariner Software's products, and MacJournal is no exception. The software is very solid, handles images, video, etc., and interfaces with blogging sites such as LiveJournal and homegrown blogs such as Movable Type. The developers are quick to respond to questions or bugs, and new releases come out pretty frequently. If you're looking to journal or keep a blog of any kind, check out MacJournal. |
shaggymac said 7/4 at 8:22am I've been using Mariner Software for a long time. The application has ONLY gotten better over the years! This application protects your data by encryption and by a password! The best part is that you can write your own blog and publish it anywhere (.Mac MovableType, etc). I'd recommend this to anyone that wants to be a casual blogger or is a serious one. The interface is REALLY easy to use and full-featured! |
marshallj said 7/4 at 3:22pm I Love MacJournal and i don't primarily use it for blogging. I use it as a notes application. It's great for web research. You can collect clippings text, pictures, web address and then organize them. I store PDF receipts and all sorts of little documents that i want to keep organized. All this makes it a good interface for writing. So, if you put a lot of thought into what you are blogging then i think it's a good choice. It's a very clean and easy to use app. It does what it says well and it doesn't try to do to much. |
patrick.widener said 7/4 at 11:38am I've tried several different journal/blog apps and I think I'm finally ready to take the plunge on MJ. While I really don't like the cookie-cutter iTunes-style interface that most of these apps have taken up and will wish for a more page-oriented style rather than an entry-oriented one, MJ seems to have it over competition like Journler on features. |
iZoe said 7/4 at 8:47pm MacJournal is now a MacClassic app. I use it every day for just about everything I need to write, store, copy, or log. It's on my dock in order of most-used apps; it's right on top! |
solomke said 7/4 at 5:20pm As a new Mac user, a while back I downloaded the trail copy of MacJournal and was thoroughly impressed with it's many features! I'm not about to write a MacWorld review here, but just want to say that the feature that impressed me the most was it's ability to generated blogs. This is a great tool for the price. I like easy and this is definitely an easy to use, no hassle, straight to the point software application! |
wait4me said 7/4 at 4:20pm Over the years I've tried a number of journaling programs. Most have merit, somehow fall short in one or more key areas. Mariner seems to come closer to meeting my needs than alternatives & the current version is darned close to perfect. |
goldenho said 7/4 at 11:59am I definitely want to try out MacJournal. There are bloggers, and there are the rest of us who wish we could blog more, but just want to keep up with life and hope to record it at the same time. This will help me do that. Thanks. |
carnica said 7/4 at 11:01am I used Notebook since quite some time and really liked it, probably because I have not seen anything better yet. However when I saw the UI and the possibilities of MacJournal I steped back - I guess I will give MacJournal a chance to convince me to be the better product. |

I can tell that most of the people commenting below haven't really used MacJournal. I've been using it for a few years now and it's one of my favorite Mac apps. That it can post to a blog is superfluous, IMHO. If you have a lot of notes, memories, or diary entries that you want to keep track of, this works great for that. You don't have to publish online. And you can lock and encrypt some or all of your entries if you want.
I use MacJournal as the center of my digital hub life; it stores all the information and data and allows for easy retrieval of that info. The latest version rocks and is easy to use. Before I purchased MacJournal, I tried 48 different "notes programs." MacJournal was the best, mainly because it allowed you the greatest flexibility in letting me organize the folders (Journals) the way I wanted to. It was one of the few that offered encryption and exporting in various formats.
